How to dress for the Museo Egizio?

There is no dress code. Inside it is about 24 degrees all year round, and the cloakroom is suspended.

The temperature remains constant for the conservation of the objects, with air conditioning and heating. With the cloakroom closed due to works you cannot leave jackets, bags, umbrellas and luggage: in winter your coat stays with you for the whole visit. Dress in layers.

What can you bring inside the Museum?

Small backpacks and bags with personal items. Suitcases, trolleys, scooters, skates, large backpacks and bulky luggage are not allowed.

  • The bag check is before the ticket desk. Scissors, blades, nail files and penknives are handed over to security and collected at the end of the visit.
  • The lockers are few, only for school-type backpacks, not bookable, until exhausted.
  • Photos and videos are allowed, without flash and without tripods or other professional equipment.
  • Animals: only guide dogs and therapy dogs are allowed, with certification.
  • Perfumes: in some rooms there is an ambient fragrance. If you are sensitive to smells, ask the Museum.
