The Integrated Report 2025 describes the Museum as «a museum under construction, but always open». In 2025 it recorded over 1.2 million entries, a record according to the Museum itself, and in the meantime it has rearranged rooms and carried on the works of the future Piazza Egizia.

Here we list the news with their date, as the Museum publishes them. The ticket, however, does not change: the rules are in the guide to tickets.

What is the new Kha and Merit room like?

It is room 7, refitted and inaugurated on 4 December 2025; until February 2027 it also hosts Kha's Pyramidion, on loan from the Musée du Louvre.

On 15 February 2026 the Museum celebrated 120 years since the discovery of the tomb. For the anniversary, two loans arrived: the Pyramidion with Kha's name, from the Louvre, and the Book of the Dead of Merit, from the Bibliothèque nationale de France. According to the exhibition page, the papyrus remained in Turin until August 2026 and is now known through a tactile reproduction. The Pyramidion can be seen until February 2027.

The new layout, the Museum writes, combines archaeology, philology, archaeometry and conservation sciences: it tells how the objects are studied, not just the objects themselves. In the same year the spaces of the tomb of Iti and Neferu and those of princess Ahmose were redone. From room 7 you can also reach Pausa Caffè, the Museum's refreshment point.

What is «Materia. Forma del Tempo»?

It is the permanent exhibition opened on 5 October 2024 for the bicentennial: about 700 square metres between the ground floor and the underground level, dedicated to wood, pigments, ceramics and stone.

The first room has two large «libraries» with 40 varieties each of woods and pigments. The second displays almost 5,000 vases, arranged like in a library inside display cases that go up to the ceiling. The last is dedicated to stone: statues, steles, ceiling fragments and vases. The objects range from the Pre-Dynastic Period (around 4000-3100 BC) to the Byzantine Period (565-642 AD). The details are in the Museum's announcement.

Materia is on the normal itinerary. In the sequence indicated by the Museum, the ground floor, with Materia, the Chapel of Ellesiya and the Galleria dei Re, comes after the second, first and third floors. The rest of the itinerary is in the guide to what to see.

When does the Museo Egizio immersive room open?

On 20 November 2026, as announced by the Museum: the room is in the underground level and offers a journey along the banks of the Nile.

In the announcement of 30 September 2026 the Museum describes a space that reconstructs the landscapes of the Nile Valley, from antiquity to subsequent transformations, with a programme of guided tours. Price and access methods are not indicated on the pages we read in October 2026: we do not know if a separate ticket will be needed.

The Museum presents the room as a step in the path started in 2024 with the free opening of the Ellesiya rock chapel, the small temple donated by Egypt and inaugurated in Turin on 4 September 1970.

What is closed at the Museo Egizio and what changes with the works?

Since 12 December 2025 the Sale Storiche on floor -1 have been closed; the cloakroom is suspended due to works and the route is less linear than usual.

L'Museum's notice speaks of a temporary closure, without a reopening date. The ticket shop warns that the rest of the Museum is visitable, new galleries included, but that with the works the itinerary is less linear. The construction sites also concern the spaces of the future Piazza Egizia.

The practical consequence is the cloakroom. Jackets, bags, umbrellas and luggage cannot be left. There are a few small lockers, only for school-type backpacks, not bookable. Suitcases, trolleys and large backpacks are not allowed; a small backpack or bag with personal items is. The full rules are in the guide to how to get there.

In the small group tour there are a maximum of 9 people, all in the same language, with the entry ticket included.
